ODON, Ind. (Feb 28, 2022) - The Crane Regional Defense Group (CRDG) hosted its first Key
Leader Series event of the year Feb. 16 at WestGate Academy in the WestGate at Crane
Technology Park.
This quarterly event brings together defense industry peers, elected officials, small businesses and community organizations to hear from influential keynote speakers on topics relating to NSA Crane and its missions.
Participants received briefings from NSWC Crane Chief Mission Strategists for Expeditionary
and Electronic Warfare, Shannon Kasinger-Clark and Stacey Mervyn. The presentations
featured an overview of both departments, a dive into technologies relevant to the mission
areas, and an explanation of the skillsets needed for careers within the various career roles.
“The CRDG event provided an excellent forum for NSWC Crane to share the Electronic Warfare and Expeditionary Warfare Mission Areas’ current capabilities and strategic direction with southwest Indiana’s regional organizations,” said Mervyn.
As workforce development and employment continue to be a focus among all businesses and
industries, learning about the various skills and abilities required to be successful in these
departments and divisions is extremely beneficial. Communities can bring this information to
their schools and educational programs, while industry peers can focus on training employees in these areas for alignment.
“Our innovation ecosystem partners play a critical role in NSWC Crane’s ability to meet
increasing demands for the accelerated development and transition of technology for our
nation’s Warfighter. Events like this provide an opportunity for us to educate and inform the
region about our future needs, especially as our reliance on a strong regional infrastructure
continues to grow,” said Kasinger-Clark.
Allowing NSWC representatives like Kasinger-Clark and Mervyn to speak about happenings
behind the NSA Crane gate, participants have the opportunity to grasp a better understanding of NSWC’s missions, how they support our military and the technological advances being
developed. The Key Leader Series also allows for an environment that welcomes questions and interaction with both the speakers and other attendees.
You can find a link to these presentations on the CRDG website here. The next Key Leader
Series will be Friday, May 20 at WestGate Academy.
The citizen-led CRDG committee creates partnerships between chambers of commerce, county councils, financial institutions and business leaders to preserve the strategic value of Crane by supporting local outreach and legislative initiatives that protect military installations in the region and state, and leverage the installation’s potential to bring economic growth to Southern Indiana.
